[Brmug-l] New Mac user needs advice

Hi! 

I just bought my first (used) Mac - a PowerBook G4 12" with OSX Tiger.  I
need help (since I'm TOTALLY from a PC background).

First:  Utilities I need to replace from PC versions to Mac:

Antivirus software
Anti-spyware software
Network security software

Second:  Applications I need to replace from PC versions to Mac:

MS-Word on Mac 
Power Point (presentations)
MS Publisher (page-layout with 4-color separation)
MS Photo Editor (I don't want Photoshop...)
MS Front Page (or another WYSIWYG html editor)
Quicken
Excel (spreadsheet)
CD-DVD burning software
Web browser
E-Mail client
PDF creator & reader

Third:  Magazines to keep current with:

Mac Addict has been recommended to me.  What say you?  Any others worth
reading?


I plan to attend the BRMUG meeting on the 18th & hope to meet some of you.
