Practice Contest Sunday - October 26th at noon in Coates upstairs!

October 14, 2003 Class

Voting starts after class on the 14th. You must voter to be eligible to be on a team. You must vote by midnight October 16th.

Welcome to the LSU practice site for the 2003 ACM South Central Regional Programming Contest. As coach of the team(s), I will be overseeing the selection of the team members. Here is the plan:

  • Folks will pair up at scheduled practice times and attempt to solve a problem
  • At the end of open practice, the folks who have participated in at least 8 practice pairings will be given the opportunity to vote for who they think the teams should be (more about that later).

When you show up for one of the practice times, you will be paired with someone else (hopefully someone you have not worked with before). The two of you will have 50 minutes (normally) to read the problem, discuss it, develop a solution, code the solution, test the solution, and maybe even submit the solution. Then we do another pairing (if another time period is scheduled).

Your goal during these practices should be to sharpen your skills at contest competition along with evaluating your partner. Keep notes -- remember you have to vote for who the team members will be.

Open practices end after October 14th. Voting will be open the 14th through 16th. Then I will tabulate the votes, add chads as necessary and choose the teams. I had to change these dates because the deadline for entering team data is October 20th. So I must have teams chosen prior to that.

The matrix is a table of all pairings that have occurred. Please use it to keep track of who you have not yet practiced with. If your name is not in the matrix, then please e-mail me at practice@isaac.lsu.edu (include name and PAWs ID name.

Below is a list of "open" practices. Any undergraduate student enrolled full-time at LSU is welcome to participate.
